Ronald J. Geddes

Ronald J. Geddes, 72, of Ellwood City passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at UPMC Mercy Hospital after a long hard battle.

Born October 9, 1950 in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late William L. and Virginia Ann Allen Geddes.

Ron and his family lived in Mannheim, Germany until 1960. He then lived in Florida where he graduated from T.R. Robinson High School in 1969. He studied at Butler County Community College and Penn State. Ron had retired from Lark Enterprises where he worked as a supervisor from 1984 until 1999. After retiring, he worked at Shakespeare’s where he was affectionately known as the “Host with the Most”. During his time at Shakespeare’s, he enjoyed decorating the castle for Christmas and doing the flower arrangements. He was well known for his elegant and beautiful decorating skills. He also enjoyed helping at the Marketplace on Main in Ellwood City. Ron was instrumental in bringing the Relay For Life to Ellwood City. For many years, he was on the Board of the Ellwood City Historical Society and on the Board of the Ellwood City Library. He loved reading, and he especially enjoyed history, and was able to track his genealogy to the 1600’s.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer (Matthew) Myers of Mercer; two brothers, William Geddes of Floridan and Frank (Anne Marie) Sollazzo of New York, whom he just recently found; grandson, Jakob Myers; and niece and nephew Jennifer and Michael.

He was preceded in death by his partner of 35 years William Fox.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life may be announced at a later date.

Interment will be in the Slippery Rock Church Cemetery Mausoleum.
