Ruth Ann McDanel, 72, of Pander Hollow Rd., Ellwood City (Franklin Twp.) passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital following a brief illness.
Born November 9, 1942 in Chicora, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Sarah Elizabeth Wall Jewart. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Benny L. McDanel. They were married November 6, 1965.
Ruth Ann graduated from Butler High School in 1960. In her youth, she was a member of the North Butler Presbyterian church. Currently she was an active member of the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church where she was a sang in the choir, deacon, and a member of the congregational committee and on the Fall Fest committee. She was a dedicated and current Sunday School Teacher having taught since 1975. Also active with the Pennsylvania Amateur Horseman’s Association, she formerly served on the Board of Directors and as their Treasurer. Ruth Ann enjoyed making jam and doing crafts. In her youth, she loved to horseback ride and earned many trophies and ribbons at PAHA Horse Shows.
In addition to her husband, Ben, survivors include two daughters, Lisa (Jim) Goad of Redman, Oregon, Kelly A. (Kris) Kauffman of New Castle; two sons, Alan (Kelly) McDanel Sr. of Ellwood City, Dan (Christine) McDanel of Fredonia; siblings, Arabell Jean Moore of Chicora, Mary Elizabeth Adams of Karns City, Donald Lee Jewart of Chicora, Rose Marie Watson of Mars, Clair Eugene Jewart of Karns City, Donna Mae Lingle of Clearfield, Linda Lou Chupka of Butler; nine grandchildren Meghan Cook, Khloe Goad, Kayla and Alan McDanel, Kristy Jenkins, Dan Brenner, Kristen Kauffman, Morgan and Dylan McDanel; and five great grandchildren, Boston, Blakelee, Megan, Amelia, Wyatt.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Ross and Kenneth Dean Jewart.
Visiting hours will be held Monday December 29 from 4-8 pm and Tuesday, December 30 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.
Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Dan Stinson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
