Ruth E. Frickanish

Ruth E. Frickanish, 88, of Slippery Rock Twp., Ellwood City passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born December 28, 1929 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Alberta Black Leonhardt. She was married to John T. “Jack” Frickanish for 65 years when he passed away December 24, 2015.

Ruth graduated from New Castle High School and Jameson School of Nursing. She worked for over 20 years as a Registered Nurse in the Maternity Department of the former Mary Evans Hospital in Ellwood City. She was also the owner of High Hill Ceramics Shop in Ellwood City for over 25 years. Ruth loved to travel. Her most cherished time was spent with family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Frickanish and Donald (Margie) Frickanish, both of Ellwood City; daughter, Carol (John) Thomas of New Castle; 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Linda Frickanish

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday September 20 from 4 pm until the time of the funeral service at 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Pastor Bill Beck will officiate. Final interment will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
