Ruth G. Guy, 91, of Ellwood Rd., New Castle (Wayne Twp.) died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Ellwood City Hospital.

Born January 23, 1921 in Butler, she was the daughter of the late James I. and Gertrude Taylor Davis. She was married to Lewis B. Guy who passed away on October 30, 1989.

Mrs. Guy worked at the Lawrence County Courthouse in the Treasure’s Office. She then worked at Ellwood Federal Bank. She and her husband also owned and operated Guy’s Home and Auto Supply in Chewton. Ruth graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939. She was an active and devoted member of the Chewton Christian Church where she served as treasurer, a deaconess, and Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Ellwood City Women’s club, AARP, Order of the Eastern Star # 212, Wimodesis Society. She also worked with the Wayne Twp. Board of Elections. Ruth was a former Girl Scout Leader and served on the Girl Scout Council and on the Rainbow Advisory Board. She enjoyed crocheting hats for the Salvation Army. She also enjoyed traveling and playing board games with her friends and family.

Survivors include two daughters – Sharyn (Jack) Deal of Wayne Twp. Patti (Jon) Miller of Maineville, OH; two sons, Gary B. (Sylvia) Guy of North Sewickely Twp, Brian (Fran) Guy of Cortland, OH; sister, Peggy Geary of Grove City; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Marian Davis, Verna Allison, June Coppolella, Mildred Roe; a brother, Sgt. Robert E. Davis who died in WWII; and a grandson, William Eller.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday November 2 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Friends will also be received on Saturday from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11 am at the Chewton Christian Church. Pastor Dick Allen and Pastor Gene Hydrick will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
