Sandra J. Miller, 64, of Sewall Court, Ellwood City passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Evergreen Nursing Center following an extended illness.

Born August 10, 1951 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Hobart and Thelma White Miller. She recently celebrated 39 years of marriage to Raymond C. Miller as they were married July 22, 1977. He survives.

Sandy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. She continued her education, graduating from Edinboro University in 1973. Sandy taught for the Ellwood City School District for 31 years. She taught from 1973 until her retirement in 2005 at West End, Wayne, Ewing Park, North Side and Hartman Elementary Schools. She also worked at the original “Wolverine Restaurant” with her sister, Diane, cousin, Brenda Oliver, and her grandmother, Clara. Sandy was an active member of First United Methodist Church, serving as the United Methodist Women’s President at the local and district level, co-chair of the Wednesday Soup Luncheons, member of the choir and bell choir, a Carpenter’s Project volunteer, and served as the Church Treasurer. She was also a volunteer and past president of the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary and was a former Girl Scout Leader.

In addition to her husband, Ray, survivors include two sons and a daughter in law, John (Debbie) Miller and Steven Miller; daughter, Julie Miller; one grandson, Owen Miller; a brother and sister in law, Ronald (Judy) Miller; and nephew, Michael Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Paul Miller and sister, Diane Eileen Miller.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday July 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends will also be received on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church. Pastor Angelique Bradford and Rev. David Wilson will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
