Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” Johns

Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” Johns, 94, of Johns Lane New Castle (Wayne Twp.)  passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 following a brief illness.

Born April 13, 1917 in Perry Twp. she was the daughter of  the late John Leon and Mabel Theresa Barton Thompson .

She was married to Charles Johns who passed away on May 7, 1993.

Sarah was a member of the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church.  She was former member of the Women’s Circle at the church and the Wayne Twp. Fire Auxiliary.

Sarah was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include 8 children – Nancy, Charles, Kenneth, John, Jean, Margaret, Jim and Carl;  22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Parsons.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Johns.

Private funeral services were held at the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church orJamison Hospice.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home.
