Shirley Mae Wise entered Heaven dancing and singing at 7:29 the morning of Tuesday, December 30, 2014 after a long illness. She passed away peacefully with her kids and grandkids by her side.
After performing on the radio with her sister in the 40’s, she married Len Messner and followed his Navy career around the world living in Paris, London, Washington, D.C., Tampa, and San Diego.
She graduated from Duquesne University where she worked in the Physics Department. She also served on staff for Senator John Heinz.
She instilled her love of music in all her children.
She is survived by her daughters Lisa Messner (David Lipnicky), Krista Haynie (Keith Haynie) and her son Karl Vaughn Messner (Bethany Messner), and grandchildren Samuel Haynie, Sarah Haynie, Abigail Haynie and Michael Lipnicky, and her cat “Buttons”.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bertha Mae Stacy and Samuel Stacy, her sisters Betty Stanley and Jean Mazzan, and her husbands Leonard Messner and Charles Wise.
Friends will be received Friday, January 2, 2015 from 2 until the time of the Memorial Service at 4 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Lung Association in Shirley’s memory.
