Shirley McNany, 76, of Orchard Ave., Ellwood City died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the Edison Manor Nursing Home in New Castle.
Born April 3, 1938 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Clara Mae Koch Wimer.
Shirley graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956 and in July of that year, she married the love of her life, Lawrence “Pick” McNany. They raised two children together and that was their greatest blessing. Shirley worked for 10 years in retail sales and then 15 years for St. Monica’s. She then retired from Jameson Hospital Home Health Care Services. She was an active member of Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church having served as a Trustee, Sunday School and Bible School Teacher. Shirley also belonged to the Naomi Circle and served as the trustee for the Woman’s Association at the church. She was involved with the Ellwood City Carpenter Project. Her hobbies included dancing, reading and playing cards. Her family was her greatest achievement.
Survivors include a son, Barry (Sharon) McNany of Rialto, California; daughter, Beth Izzo of Ellwood City; two sister in laws, Shirley Tritt Wimer of Frisco, Sally (Fred) Yovich of Florida; three grandchildren, Dylan Weingartner and Erica (Joseph) Miller, both of Ellwood City, Larry Taylor of California; three step grandchildren, Michelle Izzo and her fiancé, David Prenatt of Aliquippa, Mellodie (Shaun) Kaszowski of New Castle, Jeffrey Davis of New Castle; four great grandchildren, Hailey Lechner, Linzy Miller, Breana Miller, Damien Prenatt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence on February 3, 2011; brother, Phillip “Jake” Wimer; and son in law, Larry Izzo on April 5, 2014.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Funeral Services will be held at the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church on Monday at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. Julia Williamson officiating.
