Shirley V. Harper

Shirley V. Harper, 76, formerly of Denny Schill Manor, Ellwood City passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 at Heritage Valley – Beaver Hospital following an illness.

Born November 19, 1939 in New Brighton, she was the daughter of the late Lester Boyd and Isla Naomi Smurthwaite Cook. She was married to David D. Harper who passed away in 1991.

Shirley was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. Her most cherished time was spent with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters, Rebecca Murray of Ellwood City, Gail Hackett of Florida, Susan (Robert) Musgrave of Biglerville, PA, Sandra Dee (Brian) Berry of East Palestine, Ohio; son, Phillip “P.J.” (Debra Tunno) Harper of Beaver Falls; sister, Dora Hogue of South Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Walters on July 14, 2015, two sons in laws, Fred “Butch” Murray and Jack Hackett, three sisters, Nancy Eaton, Leona May Hall, Bonnie Cook, and a brother, Robert Cook.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City at 1:00 pm. Rev. Pat McCre of the First Methodist Church will officiate.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
