Sylvia J. Umstead

Sylvia J. Umstead, 58, of Shenango Twp. passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her residence following a lengthy courageous battle with cancer.

Born October 25,1960 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ernest D. Carter and Evelyn Irene Hulley Carter. She was married to Dennis E. Umstead for 25 years. He survives.

Sylvia enjoyed bowling and playing darts. She also enjoyed dirt track racing and wrestling. Sylvia was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.

In addition to her husband, Dennis, survivors include two sons, Nathan L. (Jeremy) Troup and Nickalis K. Umstead, both of New Castle; two daughters, Brittany J. (Jimmy) Piatt of Wampum, and Kim (Terry) Craig of Ellwood City; two sisters, Edna Wilcox of South Carolina, and Sharon L. Gamble/Harrison of PA; brother, Steve W. Gamble of New Mexico; grandchildren, Justin Corey, Kelle, Brett, Bug, Bella, Alex, Kaleb, Courtney Craig, and Victoria; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandchild.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday November 18 from 1 until the time of the funeral service at 4 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home. 341 Main Street Wampum. Rev. Mike Wimer will officiate.
