Thelma Pauline Meeder Lutz passed away at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA on Sunday Morning, December 16, 2012 after suffering a stroke on Dec 12 2012.
Thelma resided at 875 Midway Drive, Wiley Hill, North Sewickley Twp. Ellwood City. PA. since 1947. She was married Sept. 11, 1941, to Dale R. Lutz who preceded her in death on August 15, 1968.
Thelma was born October 30, 1921 in Cranberry Township, Zelienople, PA to the late Warren I. Meeder and Margarette L. Dobson Meeder. Her in-laws in Ellwood City were Robert E. and Mabel R. Wiley Lutz of Ellwood City and Robert’s second wife, Mary N. Best of Emlenton PA.
Thelma was a home maker and was an active card player since age 7, a seamstress and watched “her daily stories” on TV, and enjoyed many hours daily on the phone with family and friends.
She was a member of and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellwood City, and worked on the election board #1 in North Sewickley Twp. for 22 years.
She loved and enjoyed her home and spending time with her family including 13 grandchildren and 15 great grand children.
In her early years in Ellwood City she was active in the Junior Women’s Club, Eastern Star, and Mother Advisor to Ellwood City Rainbow for Girls, Riverside After Prom Committee and worked as secretary at Robert E. Lutz & Son, Inc. from 1952 to 1962.
Thelma spent her school years in Beaver, Pa and graduated from Beaver High School in June 1939, graduated from Garfield Business School, Beaver Falls, PA in 1941.
She is survived by four children, Ronald Lutz and wife Darla of Ellwood City, Janet Lutz Donnell of Naples Fl., Donna Lutz Minett and husband Thomas Ellwood City, and Joscelyn Lutz Curcio and husband Joseph of Beaver Falls, PA, one sister Betty Jane Baker and husband John of Beaver Pa, one brother-in-law Norman Welsh of Ellwood City, one sister in law Barbara Aiken Lutz of NC, one step sister Frieda Flis, AZ. and four cousins, 8 nieces and 7 nephews.
Visitation will be at Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City from 2:00 PM till 9:00 PM Wednesday December 19, 2012 and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. The funeral service will also be at the Church at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Peggy Suhr-Barkley, Pastor officiating. The Church is located 207 Spring Avenue, Ellwood City. Interment will be at Locust Grove Cemetery. No grave side services are planned.
