Thomas Copper, 87, formerly of Townwood Rd. North Sewickley Twp. passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at Passavant Retirement Center in Zelienople following a lengthy illness.
Born June 2, 1930 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Victor Z. and Hazel Buch Copper . Tom was married to Barbara G.”Bobbie” Barrows Copper for 63 years when she passed away June 23, 2015.
Tom retired in 1985 as a crane operator from the Wallace Run Rd. mill of Babcock and Wilcox. He was a member of the Word Alive Church. Tom served in the Air Force and was stationed on Guam where he played basketball, football and volley ball on championship teams. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and golfing.
Survivors include three sons, David M. Copper (Rick) of Valley Village, CA, Bruce P. Copper and Chaun D. (Lucinda) Copper, both of North Sewickley; six grandsons, Duane (Traci), James, Chaun Jr., Dan, Matt (Ashley) and Mike Copper; granddaughter, Rachel (Andy) Westfall; and five great grandchildren, Nisa and Kaela Copper, and Branson, Ariana, and Porter Westfall.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul in infancy, siblings, Victor Jr., Anabelle, Betty, Robert, Shirley, Nathanial, Perry, and Barbara; and two half brothers, David “Huck” and Harry Hockenberry.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 17 from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Rev. Marvin Mayle will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Herman Cemetery.
