Vera Copper Gotjen, 93, formerly of Wampum and Ellwood City passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Overlook Medical Clinic in New Wilmington following a short illness.
Born October 19, 1921 in Lisbon, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lena Boso Mitchell.
Vera retired from the Holiday Inn in Beaver Falls where she was the manager. She was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Wampum United Methodist Church. Vera was a member of the Wampum American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several card clubs.
Survivors include three sons, Larry (Marie) Walls of Wampum, Merle N. “Bud” (Bonnie) Copper Jr. of Penobscot, Maine, David C. (Sandra) Copper of Volant; daughter, Kathy A. (Richard) Olsen of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Merrill J. Walls, Merle N. Copper Sr. and Merle Gotjen; brother, Eugene Mitchell; and three grandchildren, Lawrence Walls Jr., David Walls, and Teri Lynn Durr.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday February 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main St. Wampum Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. Sean Brubaker officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
