William D. Dunstan

William D. Dunstan, 66, of Trusel Rd., Portersville (Slippery Rock Twp.) passed away on  Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Jameson Memorial Hospital following a lengthy courageous  battle with his illness.

Born September 20, 1946 in Sewickley, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. and Thora Mae Lynn Dunstan. He was married for twenty years to Dolores Dean Dunstan who survives.

Following graduation from Lincoln High School, Bill enlisted in the Army.  He served during the Viet Nam War as a helicopter gunner and mechanic.  He was a decorated Veteran receiving numerous awards and medals for his heroism, including the “Air Medal for Valor”.  After his discharge, Bill worked for many years at the Ellwood City Forge.  He then worked at the Ellwood Crank Shaft and Machine Shop until his retirement in 2005.  He was  a member of the Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church.  He was also a member and past exalted ruler of the Elks, BPOE Post 69 in New Castle.  He enjoyed playing cards, pool, fishing, and boating.  Bill loved spending time with his family and friends on Lake Erie and the Geneva Marina.  He adored his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Dolores, survivors include two sons and their fiancés, William (Melissa Maddalon) Dunstan and Kenneth (Emily Cortez) Dunstan, all of Ellwood City; daughter, Lindsey (Andy) Liller of Chewton; two sisters, Lynn (Erwin) Campbell of Ellport, Dawn (Richard) Fleischer of Ellwood City; brother, Allen (Helen) Dunstan of Mechanicsburg; and five grandchildren,Brandon Fisher, Hunter and Tanner Dunstan, and Ian and Sarah Liller.  He also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews whom were very important in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visiting hours will be held on  Thursday February 14, 2013 from 4-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 am with his pastor, Rev. Derek Longbrake officiating.  Full military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment will follow in the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.  Full military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.
